Is Frontiers a “Christian” organization?
Frontiers is a faith-based, non-profit organization. We are not connected to one church, denomination or political affiliation. Our motives are pure and simple – to show Jesus’ love for Muslims through acts of service and respect for Muslim peoples and their cultures. Our members all follow Jesus (Isa al-Masih), living their lives in obedience to Him – not out of compulsion to follow a religion, but by faith in Jesus as our Lord and path of righteousness.
Where is Frontiers based?
Frontiers is an international movement with sending centers in over 20 different locations worldwide. In the United States, Frontiers has a main office in Arizona with 6 regional offices and many additional representatives throughout the country. Contact us to find a representative near you.
What does Frontiers believe?
Check out our “About Us” section for more information on what we believe.
What makes Frontiers a unique organization?
Frontiers has six distinct qualities that make us unique from other organizations. Check them out by visiting the page on “What Makes Us Unique?”
Does Frontiers seek to convert Muslims to Christianity?
Frontiers does not seek to “convert” Muslims to Christianity, but rather to point them to Jesus and to lives of love, respect and obedience to His Word. We believe that we do not have the power of conversion, just as the Qur’an states (S. 2:256), but rather it is by the conviction of God’s Spirit to bring people to repentance in Jesus’ name.
How did Frontiers start – what are the origins of this movement?
Frontiers has been seeking to love Muslims in their homelands and cultures for over 25 years. Check out our “Where Have We Been?” page for more information on the history of Frontiers.
Where are your members?
In many cities and neighborhoods of North Africa, West Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, the Balkans, South Asia and Southeast Asia. Because of the tendency in some Muslim-majority countries to inhibit human rights, we do not publicly disclose our members’ names or locations. We are currently looking for new teams to go and serve in places where the love of Jesus has not yet reached. Check out our “Get Engaged” page for more information.
How is Frontiers structured – does Frontiers tell their members what to do and where to go?
Frontiers’ members are field-led by semi-autonomous teams, which means the team leaders on the field are in charge of what they do and how they do it. Frontiers is a community of like-minded teams and they network with field-based coaches to stay accountable to their vision. Together, the team leaders provide consultative direction for the movement so we are not defined by a structure, but rather by being an organic community working towards the same goal.
Are Frontiers members called “missionaries”?
By definition, some would say, “Yes.” But all people are called to participation in God’s mission in the world – even our Muslim friends would say the same for themselves. However, we are not “missionaries” in the sense that the term has come to be associated with past imperialistic structures. Our mission is driven purely by the self-sacrificing love of Jesus and not by the self-asserting lust for power too often found in our world today.
What kind of projects is Frontiers involved in?
Frontiers teams work primarily in community development (organized efforts to bless and serve the poor) and private business enterprise (bringing thriving commerce to places where economic growth is needed).
How does Frontiers react to crises or disasters in the Muslim world?
When crises or disasters hit, we often seek to help other charitable organizations and NGOs to provide the needed funds or manpower for survival and recovery among those affected. This is all done out of the compassion that Jesus provides.
What resources are available to learn more about Islam and working in the Muslim world?
