Church–Based Teams (CBT)
Are you feeling God call you to create your own team with friends from your worshiping community? The CBT (Church Based Teams) Department of Frontiers is designed to partner with your fellowship to equip, train, and send apostolic visionaries to the Muslim world. If this is what you’re looking for, we have the experience and resources to help you reach your dream.
Why a CBT?
- Team members have probably already built relationships with each other even before they form a team. They are more likely to share similar beliefs and practices than teams of couples or individuals that come from different communities.
- Your sending fellowship feels more confident that the teams they sponsor are really prepared to do the strategic work they’re sent to do. You have a greater part in shaping the ethos of the team.
- Instead of giving a few dollars every month to many different outreach efforts, you can concentrate your effectiveness by empowering one or more teams for a big impact in the Kingdom of God by helping and loving others through your own teams.
- The ministry of coaching and shepherding your team is shared among members of your community and Frontiers. The team benefits from having more coaches and resources available to them.
- CBTs use the gifting of apostolic visionaries (those restless people who hear the call to love others and proclaim the Good News of Jesus to those who have not heard.) A CBT helps channel their energy under the covering of a church community without quenching their spirit.
- CBTs cultivate a shared sense of belonging between the members on the field and members back home. Your community is more likely to keep the whole team covered in prayer when all teammates are based in your fellowship.
- CBTs help your community become more outward-focused. CBTs help others in your community catch a vision for the unreached, while bringing a heightened sense of God’s presence in the work being done overseas.
How Can Frontiers Help You?
Drawing from 25 years of sending teams to the Muslim world, Frontiers can help you and your community realize this vision through specialized experience in the following areas:
- helping you find the places where teams are needed most and what work needs to be done.
- providing expert coaching and mentoring to help you form a team and prepare for the field.
- training your team to bear fruit in service and love to Muslim peoples.
- helping you assess your team’s readiness to go.
- helping your team transition to the field with culture and language preparation and interacting with the people with whom you are called to serve.
- helping your home community to care for the team overseas, through our Member Care Team and other helpful coaching tools.
- helping your community keep the team accountable to their work and vision.
- helping you debrief the team during transitions from the field or to new fields of service.
Frontiers wants your team to be a blessing to your community and a blessing to more and more Muslims all over the world. Through our process of envisioning, planning, training, and sending, we can make this calling a reality.
